Q: Jumping genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you don't usually like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

I never used to like anything that was in the horror genre because I'm quite squeamish and jumpy (the video for Michael Jackson's Thriller still scares me) but the first horror book that I read and really loved was The Dead Zone by Stephen King. I picked it up because my mam told me what it was about and I thought it sounded interesting so I took it out of the library and took it everywhere with me. I took it to a wedding, I even took it to Germany with me!

    I am with you on horror stories - usually, it just scares me too much!

    I'm not into horror at all (and have never tried it) but I feel like I have to read a Stephen King novel in my life and maybe it's going to get me into horror a bit...

    You are a braver soul than I am. You cannot pay me to read a horror book. I even get scared by non-horror books. Back in high school I read a choose your own advanture book and it's wasn't any of the horror ones but you know in these books if you choose wrong you could die, well I drowned a few times while reading that book and I of course got nightmares. I told my teacher this and she just had this sort of "you pathetic girl" look in her eyes that makes me giggle now but back then was quite embarrassing to endure lol.

    I have to say-- I haven't read The Dead Zone, but I watched every episode of the show!! haha. Not sure how that translates!
